Welcome

Dr. Christa S. Bialka is the Associate Professor of Special Education in the Department of Education and Counseling at Villanova University, where she directs the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program and the Disability & Deaf Studies Program. Dr. Bialka received her M.Ed. in Moderate Special Needs Education from Boston College and her Ed.D. in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include understanding the development of teacher dispositions, preparation of teachers for inclusive classrooms, and disability awareness. 

In 2023, Dr. Bialka was awarded the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Dr. Bialka's work has recently been published in The Journal of Education for Teaching, Teacher Education and Special Education, the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Disability & Society, Issues in Teacher Education, the Journal of Experiential Education, and the International Journal of Inclusive Education. Prior to earning her Doctorate, Dr. Bialka taught English and Special Education in the Boston area. Dr. Bialka is an active member of Disability Inclusive Curriculum Coalition of Pennsylvania and the Disability and Accessibility Action Group of H-CAN.
